| Sustainable species in demand at IBSS |
|
Smoked and sustainable species were at the top of buyers' menus at this year's International Boston Seafood Show, and West African exporters are primed to meet demand. In a pavilion sponsored by USAID's West Africa Trade Hub, managed by CARANA, both sides met at the industry's largest tradeshow in North America, March 17-19, to hammer out deals. Many buyers were unaware that Africa has the capacity to responsibly manage and export various species. The Trade Hub has collaborated with fish processors, fishermen, wildlife protection agencies and government to promote good fishing practices and manages the West Africa Sustainable Seafood Development Alliance.
