Transit and Trade Facilitation Advisors

CARANA is experienced in implementing projects where technical assistance is focused on transport corridors relevant to particular value chains including modeling of inefficiencies along key goods-transport corridors; collection and dissemination of information on barriers to efficient transport on key trade corridors; analysis of investment needs in transportation infrastructure; and facilitation of public-private partnerships for infrastructure investment.

CARANA is seeking long-term advisors with specializations in transit and trade facilitation in anticipation for the USAID-funded Nigeria Expanded Trade and Transport (NEXTT) project. Advisors will participate in project activities focused on transport and trade facilitation, particularly as they concern food security. Advisors with expertise in the following may be needed:

Modeling of inefficiencies along key goods-transport corridors in Africa;
Collection and dissemination of information on barriers to efficient transport on key trade corridors;
Information campaigns designed to discourage corruption on key corridors;
Analysis of investment needs in transportation infrastructure; and
Facilitation of public-private partnerships for infrastructure investment.

Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Business, Economics, Agriculture, International Development, or related field.
Experience working with trucking or shipping sectors in developing countries.
Familiarity with agricultural marketing and trade.
Experience managing programs or studying transport and trade-related constraints to food security.
Keen understanding of the social, economic and political environment in Africa, preferably West Africa.
